Finely tuned: Kettnaker presents a new color palette and innovative finishes at Destination
Design Eindhoven
As part of Destination Design Eindhoven, Kettnaker will present a curated selection of its
modular furniture in a newly developed color palette and with two new finishes this coming
Sunday. On display for the first time will be an open-pore black lacquered oak and the
metallic shimmering 3D surface WAVE in the colors Champagne, Bronze, and
Onyx. These additions allow Kettnaker's modular furniture ranges to be tailored even more
precisely to different architectural contexts and individual living styles.
The desire for spaces with more character, without sacrificing clarity and order, is becoming
increasingly important for many customers. Kettnaker is responding to this need with a
revised color palette that evokes emotion through precision. “We wanted to reconsider our
existing color palette in light of current living and color trends,” says Wolfgang Kettnaker.
Behind this sober description lies an intensive design process, the result of which is a
concentrated, clearly structured color palette—differentiated in nuance, grounded in material,
and unambiguous in expression.
Differentiated colors, clear lines
This approach is particularly evident in the newly defined red tones: coral becomes chili, ruby
becomes carmine red, berry becomes purple. The new names represent precisely modified
color moods. Chili appears more powerful and immediate, carmine red more balanced,
purple significantly deeper. The gray tones have also been finely retuned. From chalk to
agate gray to lava, a harmonious scale spans the spectrum, connecting materiality and
space. Gray tones do not work through color here, but through light, temperature, and depth.
They enable precisely set contrasts and keep different materials in balance. As a calm but
effective basis, they have always played a key role in the Kettnaker portfolio.
Ice blue, sage, and moss green have been added to complement the range. Ice blue marks
transitions and unfolds its effect particularly in interaction with light. Sage combines lightness
with versatility and can be easily combined. Moss green sets a deliberate accent and brings
an independent spatial presence. The result is a color palette that is architecturally
conceived: it can structure, connect, or emphasize—always with controlled calm and
targeted intensity.
Materiality as a extension of color
The new color scheme is consistently continued in the choice of materials. The open-pore
black lacquered oak combines craftsmanship with a calm, nuanced black tone that reveals
the natural grain and gently reflects light. The 3D WAVE surface was developed to
complement SOMA and CASE. In champagne, bronze, and onyx, its metallic sheen creates a lively
interplay of light and shadow. Depending on the angle of view and movement in the room,
the effect of the surface changes—it becomes a subtle irritation and emphasizes the
sculptural character of the furniture.
