Precisely attuned:Kettnaker presents a new color world and two new finishes at iddcologne 2025
For the premiere of idd cologne 2025, Kettnaker will present an exclusive selection of its modular furniture systems at the Stoff-Pavillon Moeller in Cologne from 26 to 29 October 2025 – showcasing a newly composed color world and two new finishes: an open-pore black lacquered oak and the metallic 3D surface WAVE for SOMA, available in Champagne, Bronze and Onyx. These new options make Kettnaker’s modular furniture even more adaptable to diverse interior concepts and styles.
Customers are increasingly asking how interiors can feel more emotional and personal without losing clarity. Kettnaker responds with a refined color world that treats precision as the foundation of emotion. “Our aim was to evolve our existing color palette in tune with current color and interior design trends,” explains Wolfgang Kettnaker. What sounds pragmatic describes a deeply creative process. The result is a palette that feels distilled — nuanced in tone, grounded in material, and confident in expression.
Precise tones, clear attitude
This transformation is most visible in the reds: coral becomes chili, ruby turns into carmine red, and berry evolves into purple. The new names signal subtle yet expressive shifts in character. Chili feels more immediate, carmine red calmer, purple deeper. The greys have been reworked with equal sensitivity. From chalk to agate grey to lava, elegantly graduated transitions create a harmonious dialogue between material and space. Greys are not defined by colorfulness, but by light and temperature. They enable contrasts to be finely tuned and material combinations to stay in balance. Their quiet strength lies in this mediating quality: greys bring stillness without silence – forming the stage on which other colors and textures come to life.
The palette is complemented by ice blue, sage and moss green. Ice blue bridges transitions and embraces light, sage connects effortlessly and lends a sense of calm versatility, while moss green makes a deliberate statement – an independent accent with spatial depth. The result is a palette that works architecturally: it can define zones, build connections and set accents, balancing composure with intensity.
Color and material as one
Kettnaker extends the theme of color consistently into the realm of material. The open-pore black lacquered oak demonstrates how craftsmanship and stillness merge into a sensual black tone that reveals the grain and subtly reflects light. For SOMA, the metallic 3D surface WAVE in Champagne, Bronze and Onyx adds another tactile dimension. Its relief catches light unevenly, revealing changing facets as one moves through the room. The surface introduces a quiet tension, emphasizing the furniture’s volume and sculptural poise.
